Choosing a study tool
Anki alternatives: what needs to change in your routine?
Making cards and keeping up with reviews are different problems. Switching apps does not replace a review schedule you follow.
Who publishes this guide and how we select tools
Published by the Supernapse team. Our own product is included in this selection. Options are grouped by use case, without scores, a podium or an overall winner.
We consider features documented in official sources and demonstrated on this site, not accuracy or learning tests. Check access, language and conditions in your account.
When staying with Anki makes sense
Anki offers note templates, cloze, image occlusion and review with an FSRS option. If you rely on that schedule, keeping your collection may be enough. We do not audit add-ons. [A1, A2, A4]
Alternatives by task, without a preference ranking

| Tool | When to consider it | What to check before switching |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Interactive cards in conversation, reopened from the Library. [C3] | Saving does not establish Anki-equivalent scheduling. [C3, A4] |
| Quizlet | Study sets, Learn and spaced repetition on the website. [Q3, Q4] | Spaced review is documented for the website, not every app. [Q4] |
| RemNote | Cards inside notes, with a spaced-review queue. [R2, R3] | AI uses credits; generated cards go through learning before scheduled reviews. [R1, R6] |
| Supernapse | Materials connected to summaries, cards, questions and the AI Tutor. [S] | FSRS and APKG export are not established; do not assume migration or equivalent scheduling. [S] |

Test your reason for switching in one session
You have not made the cards yet
Generate or write questions from a lecture passage. Each card should test one idea and be easy to correct.
You want cards beside your notes
In RemNote, turn a note topic into a card and compare it with your Anki templates. [R2, A1]
You already have an important deck
Keep the original collection and test a few cards before migrating. We have not verified history transfer.
