Before uploading, focus on what to recall
Not every paragraph makes a good prompt. Decide what to recall (definitions, distinctions, steps), check that text, tables and symbols are readable, and keep the PDF focused.
Example: one PDF passage, three focused cards
Illustrative passage: “The Calvin cycle occurs in the stroma and uses ATP and NADPH from the light reactions.”
Where does the Calvin cycle happen?
In the stroma of the chloroplast. One card, one fact: the location.
Which compounds does the Calvin cycle use?
ATP and NADPH. Keeping location and compounds apart makes each card precise.
Which stage supplies ATP and NADPH to the cycle?
The light reactions. Check in your PDF that this relationship holds.
What to check in cards from a document
-
A self-contained prompt
Replace “this stage” or “the process” with the concept's name; the question should stand alone.
-
An answer true to the source
Verify numbers, units and conditions against the document; short cards still keep the meaning.
-
Understanding before memorization
Reads like unfamiliar words? Revisit the PDF or ask the AI Tutor for an example.
From your PDF to flashcard review
Summaries, questions and the AI Tutor keep working from the same PDF.
