Discovering study tools
Best flashcard apps for the way you review
Question format, editing and what happens after you answer all matter. AI card generation and review scheduling are different functions.
Who publishes this guide and how we select tools
Published by the Supernapse team. Our own product is included in this selection. Options are grouped by use case, without scores, a podium or an overall winner.
We consider features documented in official sources and demonstrated on this site, not accuracy or learning tests. Check access, language and conditions in your account.
Three criteria before choosing an app
- Format: question and answer, cloze, image occlusion or context?
- Review: browse a set now or follow cards scheduled ahead?
- Organization: a deck, your notes or beside summaries and questions?
Flashcard apps by routine
Sources last reviewed: October 2, 2026.
| Tool | A routine to explore | An important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Anki | Templates, cloze, image occlusion and review with FSRS. [A1, A2, A4] | Writing good cards and tuning settings remain your work. [A1, A4] |
| ChatGPT | Create and edit cards in conversation; decks saved in Library. [C3] | Saved cards do not establish an Anki-like calendar. [C3, A4] |
| Gemini Notebook | Cards from sources, with progress tracking and retries of misses. [G3] | Retrying mistakes does not establish future scheduling. [G3] |
| Quizlet | Sets in Learn, plus spaced review on the website. [Q3, Q4] | Spaced repetition is documented for the web; check your device. [Q4] |
| RemNote | Cards in notes, with spaced review or topic practice. [R2, R3] | Practicing all cards differs from studying only due ones. [R2] |
| Supernapse | Cards from your sources beside summaries, questions and tutor. [S] | The demonstrated workflow includes review and shuffling, without establishing a spaced-repetition scheduler. [S] |

Card format changes the decision
Vocabulary: recognition and production
“What does bonjour mean?” and “How do you say hello?” test different directions; track each.
Anatomy: a structure in a diagram
To identify regions, try image occlusion in Anki and RemNote. [A2, R2]
Ongoing review: what to do today
Due cards call for scheduling; reviewing a set before class calls for selection and navigation.
Before moving an entire collection
Create a few cards, correct an answer and find them again, keeping the original collection. We have not verified history transfer, every platform or comparative accuracy.
